Growth set to continue for Sewell FM
2014 was a year of growth and investment for Sewell Facilities Management (FM), which is celebrating its 20th year in business.
The firm, an arm of Sewell Group, has grown from 73 employees to 104 over recent months, having been awarded a number of new contracts last year.
The business now looks after 162 buildings across the region, accessed by over 200,000 people, and can boast a 100% customer retention rate in 2014.
Martin Stead, Managing Director of Sewell FM, explained how the company is investing in its people and systems as the business expands. He said:
“Training and engagement was a critical factor in 2014, and will continue to be this year.”
“Business is fundamentally about people being of service to people, so we’ll continue to ensure our teams have the right attitude and behaviours, and are continuously upskilled, so we can provide quality services for our customers.”
Martin explained how £250,000 has also been invested in improvements to the customer intranet. He explained:
“We have a helpdesk and reactive maintenance team who are on hand 24/7 for customers, but we wanted to ensure that, on occasions when customers would prefer to login in as oppose to pick up the phone, that the system is user friendly and bespoke to their needs, not vice versa which is so often the case with technology.”
More commonly known for its construction track record, Mr Stead explained how the unique set up at Sewell Group of construction and facilities management continues to be beneficial for customers:
“Clients are more increasingly wanting a one stop shop for their estate. It’s easier to interface with one company as oppose to several. If we can provide a more holistic, value for money service for our customers, it means they can concentrate on their day job with peace of mind.”
“We take a collective responsibility as a Group and apply a single team approach. Take Kingswood Parks Primary School for example which opened in September; Sewell Construction built it and now Sewell Facilities Management will look after it day-to-day; we’re in it for the distance.”
