Sewell Facilities Management has been awarded a new contract to provide peace of mind around the clock at a 34-bed Hull residential home.

The team has a long-standing relationship with City Health Care Partnership (CHCP) and has also provided facilities management services at the business’ Beacon Business Park base in west Hull since January 2014.

Now, as the relationship continues to grow, Sewell Facilities Management has taken over planned preventative maintenance, as well as 24/7 reactive maintenance tasks, at CHCP’s Highfield Residential Home in Wawne Road, Bransholme.

The home supports prevention of unnecessary hospital admissions and early supported discharge for people who need rehabilitation after an illness or injury.

It was owned and run by Hull City Council until February 1, when CHCP took over the ownership and operational running of the base.

In close partnership with the local authority, CHCP has provided rehabilitation and reablement for a number patients admitted to the intermediate care beds at Highfield since 2009.

Martin Stead, Director of Sewell Facilities Management, said: “We have an excellent existing relationship with CHCP and its staff through the major health centres across Hull and we’re delighted this has now grown.

“CHCP has acquired this facility and we are pleased to have come up with a solution to ensure they have peace of mind around the clock.

“We have assessed the location and tailored a facilities management package to suit the needs of this base.

“This demonstrates trust and a really strong working relationship between Sewell Facilities Management and CHCP, as well as it being testament to the great work our teams do on site.

“We’re looking forward to this continued partnership as we move forward.”

Andy Richardson, Electrical Maintenance Technician at Sewell Facilities Management, has carried out work at Highfield Residential Home.

His role at Sewell is varied, including working in health centres and schools, repairing light fittings and sockets, and servicing fire alarms and nurse call systems.

Andy said: “At Highfield, we have replaced lighting and upgraded it, as well as making repairs to the nurse call systems in the patients’ rooms.

“The staff are fantastic and it is a really good place to work. It is full of patients, so we are very mindful of them and the staff are really helpful with that.”

CHCP provides a wide range of health and care services to over half a million people across Hull, the East Riding, Knowsley, Wigan and St Helens.

Its services help minimise the need for acute care in hospital through early interventions, community-based treatment and promotion of healthy lifestyles.

Anne-Marie Moore, Estate and Security Manager at CHCP, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Sewell Facilities Management again. They do a fantastic job and always respond in a timely manner, which is extremely important to us.

“It’s essential for us to keep our estates safe and compliant, and we know this will be achieved with them.”

Sewell Facilities Management already has strong relationships within the healthcare sector in Hull.

It has recently been awarded a three-year contract extension to provide front of house and building manager services across four major health centres in the city.

For the past three years, the business has delivered front of house services, such as meet and greet for visitors and patients, at Wilberforce Health centre in Hull city centre.

In addition, the team has previously provided building manager roles at Wilberforce, Bransholme and Orchard Park health centres, which are owned by estates solutions provider Citycare.

Now, a fourth health centre – Elliott Chappell in Hessle Road, west Hull – has been added, with building manager services provided across the four sites for at least the next three years.
