Sewell Facilities Management is building on its partnership with Ron Dearing University Technical College (UTC), helping to train sixth form students as cleaners.
Year 12 students Jay Gordon and Harrison Fowler, both 17, are doubling up as part-time members of staff at the school following initial training from the FM team members who already maintain and clean the school buildings.
Mark Ollerenshaw, Vice Principal at the UTC, said: “Jay and Harrison have had a health and safety induction with Sewell Facilities Management and training to teach them how to do the various jobs, how to work safely and how to work to a routine.
“It has been brilliant and this is a really good example of Sewell working in partnership with us. They are part of our school and that has once again come through in bundles with the way they have supported Jay and Harrison.”
The students are among several others who have taken up roles in other departments within the school, helping to prepare them for the world of work.
