The school gates may be closed, but the work of our Sewell Facilities Management teams increases throughout the summer holidays.

From repairs, redecoration, new flooring, lifecycle work and replacing blinds,to grounds maintenance, window cleaning, external painting and fencing, planned and reactive maintenance tasks
are scheduled to ensure schools across Hull and York are ready for the new term.

In addition, 2,600 hours of deep cleaning are underway – a total of 10 deep clean during the summer holidays.

Facilities Manager Carol Harris said: “The summer holidays are our busiest time of the year in schools.

“We’re also looking after pets at Victoria Dock and Poppleton, and washing down exterior playground areas and canopies.

“We carry out checks to ensure schools remain compliant on every level and we’re also asked to price jobs for schools which are carried out over the holiday periods.”
