Health & safety compliance in a school

Challenge:

On review of their current support services, Poppleton Ousebank in York wanted a health and safety partner that would provide straightforward guidance of how they needed to manage their buildings and activity safely.

Solution:

Sewell spent time with the school to gain a thorough understanding of their current status. This included an analysis of policies and procedures, audits of buildings and grounds and a review of health and safety management.

Results:

A refreshed, simplified health and safety policy was produced. The revised document set out clear objectives, responsibilities and action plans, which included:

  • Electrical safety
  • Fire safety
  • Training policy
  • Incident and accident reporting and investigation
  • Lone working
  • Risk assessments
  • Visitor safety
  • Work equipment
  • Hazardous substance
  • 24/7 phone advice
  • Annual audits
